Have you ever been to IKEA on a Saturday? We were brave enough to attempt it and as we approached, we saw that there was a FULL sign on one of the parking garages. There were supposed to be spaces in the other garage so we drove in. We were faced with a sea of red dots.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, let me explain. Some large parking houses indicate which spaces have been occupied by a red light above them. If space is free, it’s shown by a green light.

My husband joked that it was ok, we only needed one green dot. We’ve all been through periods in our life when all we needed was one green dot. It’s often easy to get disheartened when you are looking for a partner, a job, a flat but remembering that all you need is one green dot. Of course, it’s great if you can choose from many green dots but ultimately you only need one.

The same applies to find clients in a new business. You just need to find one client at a time. I know many new business owners who put unnecessary pressure on themselves. If you have a tendency to do that, just imagine that you’re looking for that one green dot. You build your experience with them and then you can look for another.

One green dot at a time.
