“I have to write my newsletter”
My husband reminds me that I don’t “have to” do anything and that I choose to do it if I want. It’s true; I always have a choice, firstly to write my newsletter or not and secondly, my choice of words.
When you say things like “I have to”, “I should”, “I need to”, “I can’t”, “I must”, the words often feel heavy and like a burden. Whereas, when you say phrases like” I choose to”, “I want to”, “I get to”, “I can”, “I love to”, these feel lighter and more conducive to action.
Do you know the experiments conducted by Dr. Masaru Emoto (1)? When water was exposed to different words, they produced different ice crystals. Water that was exposed to positive and uplifting words produced beautiful and often symmetrical crystals however those exposed to more negative words often produced ugly formations.
If words can have an effect on water crystals, is it really a surprise that they can have an effect on us, human beings who are 70% water? Even if you find it hard to believe, just notice how you feel when you use more positive and uplifting words.
“I choose to write my newsletter”, “I get to attend a conference”, “I love to spend time with my clients”, “I want to attend this networking event”, “I can take the day off”
Notice the words you use. Choose them wisely ☺
