My husband had been saying to me that once something had been sorted, he hoped things would calm down. Lately, it has been one thing after another and I can understand why he said it. I get it, I have moments where I lose the plot and want to escape too.
I guess there are periods in everyone’s lives where they feel like this. Lately, it’s constant news about the coronavirus, the markets are reacting, people are bulk buying, etc. Add this to the usual work and household setup and it’s no wonder people feel like the world is going crazy.
However, let’s be honest with ourselves, in our modern world, do things ever calm down? Would it be better to accept things how they are and rather take measures to calm ourselves down instead? Reminding ourselves that we can handle anything that comes up?
I am always working on my mindset and with my clients, so I take note when I catch myself or hear someone saying things like “I can’t handle this anymore” or “When will it ever stop?” or “Arggghhh….” which can easily drain you. Instead, when we use more constructive thoughts like “I can handle anything that comes up” or “I take things one step at a time” or “I am grateful for all the good things in my life” or “I have phenomenal coping skills”, we can handle more.
