As a teenager, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. So like many teenagers, I listened to my parents. My father was very interested in computing and thought it had the best prospects for the future. He was right. I was pretty good at Maths so took up Computing at high school and university. I worked within IT for a few years after graduation. It took some time but I realized that I preferred working and interacting with people rather than programming so took steps to change things.
I don’t think there’s any right and wrong with any path we take, however it’s good to question what is right for us individually.
It’s like when you buy a new phone, you start it up and off you go. Everything has been set up with the default settings. That may be fine to start off with but after a while, you change your icons around, have a light interface instead of a dark one, change the sound of the ring tone that sounds better to your ears, etc.
Like when you start a new job, the tasks are given. As you progress, you have the opportunity to mold the job more to you. However it’s up to you to initiate the changes, it’s up to you to decide what it is you want.
What have you decided or what has someone decided for you?
