400 days of blog posts! This is celebration-worthy! 🙂

As part of the Flip the Script coaching group that I co-host, Edson reminded the group to celebrate the milestones in the projects they were working on. To celebrate and acknowledge themselves for what they had done. Like doing a happy dance at every 5K mark of a marathon to remind yourself how well you are doing.

I admit I’m used to hitting milestones and moving on without celebrating but this is something I want to change consciously. I will take a moment to pat myself on my back and say a good job with keeping up with the consistency and well done with staying on schedule for the past years. As a business owner, it’s up to me to do that, I don’t have a boss who gives me an annual appraisal so that’s purely up to me to do.

How about you? Do you find it easy to celebrate your milestones and wins? I recently started an interesting book called “Don’t shoot the dog” (1) which talks about using reinforcers for encouraging positive habits. The author gave an example of how a man who played squash. He used to beat himself up when he made a mistake but he decided to start celebrating his good shots instead. He was surprised to see how much better he got at the game.

The more we celebrate, the more we will have to celebrate. What can you celebrate today?
