“Look how big they’ve grown”

I was asking my mother-in-law how long rocket seeds took to sprout. She said it could take up to 2 weeks.

Much to my surprise, within a couple of days, the first rocket seeds had sprouted. I guess there were nice and warm in our kitchen. Then a couple of days later, many of them were up and a whole bed of little green leaves appeared.

This was amazing to see. You might not think it’s such a big deal but I was so impressed. I don’t consider myself someone that has green fingers, therefore have never really planted much before, hence the excitement. My little boy is enthralled with them too, getting up now and then from the dinner table to look at them.

Yes, it took some coordination to get all the material we needed but it was worth it. Every day, we peep over the edges and admire our produce. We are now waiting for the day we can have some rocket leaves at dinner. How exciting to eat something that we have grown ourselves.

Sometimes it’s the smallest pleasures in life that can give us a lot of joy. It doesn’t always have to be fancy, just have the willingness to try something new. I am so glad we started with Froof, learning some basics and starting to make and grow things at home.

What are you growing?
