I learnt a new word yesterday. I was attending a practical parenting course and the presenter talked about pronoia. I hadn’t heard of this before and thought it was made up so when i came home and googled it, i was pleasantly surprised to know it is a word.
It’s the opposite of paranoia. Where a person suffering from paranoia feels that persons or entities are conspiring against them, a person experiencing pronoia feels that the world around them conspires to do them good.
What a great thought pattern and belief to have. It would be like having your loved ones and best mates supporting you all the time, everywhere you looked.
I’m feeling a stint of pronoia at the moment. All the conversations I have, be they a short chat or a longer discussion, progress me forward. How best can I explain it? It’s like being able to add a new jigsaw piece to the puzzle every chat or another piece of the path appearing. Hard to explain yet a nice feeling.
It goes along the same thread of feeling gratitude, you see the positive, the learning, the silver lining and the support. You look forward to meeting people, to events, to getting your work out because you feel the world is conspiring to help you.
If you, like me, hadn’t heard of pronoia before, try putting on some pronoia glasses and see what happens.
Yes, a few years ago I turned a corner when I began to feel the whole universe was supporting me and I could connect with this sensation at will at any time.
It was a time when my spirituality involved exploring the basic philosophies of shamanism.
Tapping into this feeling is really the ultimate answer that truly resolved crippling depression that I suffered decades ago.
