“I took some time out for life” – James L. Brooks
Taking some time out to discuss future plans was incredibly useful for my husband and I. It allowed the opportunity to take a snapshot of where we were and in which direction we want to head. I’d like to share some of the methods and takeaways in case this is something you would also like to do. Of course, feel free to pick and choose what suits you best.
We started with setting an intention for the offsite and what we would like to have as the outcome for our 1.5 days together. Our next step was using the Wheel of Life to identify where we both felt we were. The image shows one version of what you can look at. We simplified our version by concentrating on Body, Work, Money, Love (Partner, Family), Friendships and Self Worth.
We went through each of these categories giving a rating between 0 – 10 where 0 is the lowest and 10 is the highest. We decided not to allow 7s as this tends to be a neither here nor there type of rating. If we felt it was a 7, we would have to choose whether it leaned towards a 6 or an 8 to take more of a stance.
We talked through these ratings with each other and why we felt that way. Then we picked the areas we wanted to focus on….
Cliffhanger for exciting Part 2 😉
