It’s our first Autumn Holiday with our little boy. It kinda sprung upon us all of a sudden. It shouldn’t have, but it did. As it’s his first proper year in Kindergarten, previously, we’ve been used to taking holidays whenever we wanted, and not according to a preset schedule.

We knew this day was coming when we would need to follow the Zurich school term and before we know it, it’s here. That means joining many others in working out what to do with your kids during this time. There’s the option of taking 2 weeks off, asking grandparents to help out, holiday camps, or babysitters.

I can imagine many working parents face this dilemma at some point. With my own business, it’s hard to stop working. On the one hand, I want to spend as much time with my little boy as possible but that means that work builds up.

I’ll always remember my friend saying to me “Happy Mum, happy kids” and I totally agree with her. It’s finding the right balance. I talked to friends who have grown up kids and they said that it was often tough to juggle everything.

This holiday, I decided to get a babysitter for some days. This helps me to make the most of the time that I do work and when I finish work, I can really focus on being present and spending time with my little boy.

How about you? Have you ever had this dilemma and how did you approach it?
