Lucas is an only child.
I am an only child.
My husband is an only child.
We’re three only children.
That means…
Lucas doesn’t have any uncles and aunties by blood.
If anything were to happen to us…
God forbid!
There’s no obvious person to look after him.
That’s something that keeps me up at night.
Fortunately, we have wonderful friends and family.
And deep down, I know he would be ok.
But still…
Our fears are not always rational.
I’ve started looking into what’s possible for the future.
It’s still early days.
Talking to friends.
Thinking about power of attorneys.
Researching legal structures like trusts.
For me…
It’s about finding peace of mind.
Knowing that I can prepare for his future.
That helps me sleep at night.
What keeps you up at night?
You are not alone
I share my personal stories—some sad, some funny, some out of frustration.
To connect with other families on the spectrum.
When we received our autism diagnosis, I felt alone.
Conversations with other families helped me realize that wasn’t true, we’re not alone.
