Beach or Playpark?
Red top or Blue top?
Blueberries or Strawberries?
“What shall I do?”
“Help me please.”
When Lucas first asked for help,
I thought it was cute.
Quickly, I realized he was struggling,
To make choices.
In supermarkets,
I ask him to choose.
He picks one.
Then, as we leave,
He wants the other…
As well.
Pick your battles.
Sometimes we turn back,
Leaving with both.
Autistic people often have trouble choosing.
Choice paralysis.
Decision paralysis.
We try different ways to help.
Clearer options.
Strawberries or Mushrooms?
(He hates mushrooms)
Listing pros and cons.
Sometimes it works,
Sometimes it doesn’t.
Sometimes I just pick.
He asks for help,
And I oblige.
Have you encountered this…
In your family?
You are not alone
My clients tend to be mums that are feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.
Some are juggling a career, partner, child(ren) on the spectrum, household, aging parents, mental wellbeing, todo lists that never end and more.
I want you to know that you’re not alone!
